since starting LearnTech Associates more than 23 years ago, my goal has
been to provide active learning opportunities for leaders in organizations
from all levels and disciplines to continually and dramatically renew their
skills. I am incredibly proud of our track record in providing personal,
experiential and inventive approaches to leadership and management development
in the midst of rapidly changing business conditions. We partner with our
clients flexibly to help individuals and teams develop continual agility,
create new approaches and learn under stress. We recognize that in chaos
there is great opportunity to learn and do things dramatically differently.
In order to whole-heartedly pursue our goals and best serve the needs of
our clients, I have gathered a team of distinctive consultants who have
distinguished themselves in the fields of learning and development, coaching
and Human Resources. All of LearnTech's consultants have demonstrated success
in business and academics. We share deep commitment to serving the ever-changing
leadership development needs of our clients in new and different ways. LearnTech

Karen Hartman, PhD

HARTMAN, PhD Founder/President
In
28 years in the field of leadership development, management training,
and executive coaching, Karen has helped leaders in many preeminent global
organizations achieve their maximum potential. She has guided senior executives,
high-potential middle managers, senior hires, and high-performance teams
to meet significant strategic leadership and forward-thinking business
challenges. Among her areas of special interest are the challenges of
technical professionals who are in career transitions and need to enhance
their skills in management, communication, influence, and leadership in
order to get their expertise fully utilized in organizations.
Karen founded LearnTech Associates in 1984 to fulfill her vision of providing
active learning experiences for managers and leaders in complex business
organizations who continually need to improve their skills to meet new
challenges and to anticipate the future. LearnTech's approach to development
focuses on working 360 - improving the versatility and flexibility necessary
to interact with and influence multiple audiences effectively. This view
of leadership includes actively managing 360 relationships at work - inward
to yourself, upward to boss and superiors, across to peers and clients,
and downward to direct reports.
Client firms who have benefitted from Karen's development training and
coaching include Bankers Trust/Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, DoubleClick/Google,
Dow Jones, Morgan Stanley, Merck/Medco, Ogilvy & Mather, and OgilvyOne.
Many of these have been clients for more than 10 years.
Karen maintains a long-term strategic alliance with the Center for Creative
Leadership (CCL). Her certifications include feedback giver in CCL's Executive
Dimensions and Benchmarks, and in Lominger's The Leadership Architect
Suite of Products, which are 360-degree competency-based assessment and
development tools.
Karen received her doctorate in business at New York University, where
she majored in Organizational Behavior and Management and minored in Industrial
Psychology and Organizational Sociology. She also holds a master's degree
from Columbia University and a bachelor's degree from Barnard College.
She has served on the faculties of New York University's School of Business,
Baruch College, and the Center for Creative Leadership.

JACK
BAROUDI, Senior Consultant
As
a senior consultant in the development of management and leadership programs,
Jack has been affiliated with LearnTech since its inception. Jack is a
professor of Management Information Systems at the University of Delaware’s
Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics. His business specialties
include technology, e-commerce, social networks, and privacy. Previously,
Jack was a director of Deutsche Bank’s Global Equities Division;
before that, he was the global head of learning and development at Morgan
Stanley. Among his many initiatives in the field of technology leadership
development is his role as founding member of the Harvard Business School’s
E-Learning corporate partnership. Jack holds a doctorate from New York
University’s Stern School of Business and is widely published in
the field of leadership and management specifically as it applies to Information
Technology.
RON CARTER, Senior Consultant
Ron brings more than 25 years of development training to his role at LearnTech. One of his special interests is working with global executives and management teams to assess current strategy in light of changes in the global economy, technology, and customer expectations. Using simulations designed for real-time learning, he has guided management groups in more than 20 countries and in diverse industries, including financial services, pharmaceutical, education, real estate, and business information systems. Previously, Ron was a director at Merck & Co. He has also worked at Bankers Trust in several areas of development training and executive education. Ron holds a master's degree from Fordham University. He has served as director of Rutgers University's Center for Management Development.
DEBORAH JOSEPHS, Senior Consultant
Deborah contributes more than 21 years' experience in Human Resources, notably at DoubleClick where she implemented best practices that resulted in successful strategies to support the organization's revenue growth and to reduce employee turnover. Most recently, she was part of DoubleClick's executive team that led the organization through its purchase by Google. Previously, Deborah was a senior director at the McGraw Hill Companies. Before that, she was in Human Resource positions at Ogilvy & Mather, and at several financial service institutions. She is currently completing her master's in business at Baruch College of the City University of New York.
SUZANNE
MATTESON, Senior Consultant
Suzanne
brings more than 20 years’ experience in advising senior and middle
management on how to improve leadership skills through individual coaching
and team development. Her special area of interest is in creating positive
outcomes through her ability to diagnose a situation, create environments
for people to express opinions freely, and develop on-target interventions
and activities. Previously, Suzanne was the managing principal for New
Jersey at Right Management Consultants. Before that, she was director
of staffing at CIBA-Geigy. She has a bachelor’s degree in business
from Mercy College and is in leadership positions in several associations
devoted to healthcare industry issues.
MARION MORGENTHAL, Senior Consultant
Marion brings more than 20 years' experience in operations and technology project management, and conversion of technology platforms. She has broad expertise in change management and the development of non-technical skills for technologists. A special area of interest is leveraging her skills to effect integration during mergers and transforming organizations to new models that include offshore vendors. Previously, she was at Chase Manhattan Bank/JPMorgan Chase where she managed large-scale projects, mentored high potential staff members, and served as a knowledge broker in a firm-wide network of leaders. Marion has a master's in business in computer applications and information systems from New York University as well as a bachelor's degree from Cornell. Marion is an adjunct associate professor at the Stern School of Business at NYU.
MITCHELL ROSEN, Senior Consultant
Mitch brings more than 25 years' experience in executive coaching, experiential learning through state-of-the-art management training programs, and dynamic stand-up skills with interactive design. His special area of interest is in the customization and delivery of core management skills programs in team development, communication styles, time management, change management, and human resources policy, among others. He also has special expertise in bridging the differences between American and Japanese management practices and works extensively with executives in companies that combine the two. Mitch has a bachelor's degree from Queens College.
MICHAEL TULL, Senior Consultant
Michael brings more than 25 years of experience as a consultant, line manager and trainer to his work at LearnTech. He focuses on planning and implementing practical management strategies and development programs that positively impact individual and team performance. His special areas of interest include organizational change, team development and coaching for managers. He has also worked extensively on team problem solving and conflict resolution. Michael holds a master’s degree from Teacher’s College, Columbia University.
JOANNE KABAK, Senior Writer
As a writer for LearnTech, Joanne specializes in preparing business case studies, individual and team assessment profiles, and organizational reviews. She brings more than 15 years' experience as a writer for major national publications such as Newsday and Consumer Reports newsletters and as a writer and editor of Web content for financial sites. She has also collaborated on four published books and has written executive white papers and advertising analyses for corporations such as IBM and Hughes Electronics. Previously, Joanne worked as a CPA at Coopers & Lybrand. She holds a master's degree in business from Columbia University and a bachelor's degree from Barnard College. Joanne is an adjunct faculty member at Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac Universities. She has held several leadership roles in organizations that focus on networking and career development for women in corporate and entrepreneurial settings.
DONNA CONFORTI, Consultant
For the past 30 years, Donna has worked with highly successful people who seek to improve results in their organizations for themselves and their teams through strengthening leadership competencies and achieving excellence in execution. She also brings to LearnTech her special approach to guiding clients to self-awareness: a combination of her intensive grounding in business and an insightful, results-oriented style that uses feedback and observation. Her line leadership experience includes management positions at General Electric and Johnson & Johnson, and as an advocate for education in her community. She holds a certificate in executive coaching from Georgetown University and a master's degree in business from Temple University.
CYNTHIA THOMPSON, Consultant
Cynthia brings to LearnTech more than 20 years' experience in training and development in a variety of organizations and industries, as well as a notable record of ground-breaking research. An area of special focus for her is the integration of work and life, especially the extent to which supportive work-family cultures affect employee attitudes and behaviors. Cynthia is a professor of management in the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, CUNY, where she also heads a program designed to help men and women re-launch their careers after taking time off to care for family. She is widely published in scholarly and practitioner journals and is a frequent source in the media on the issues of work and family. Cynthia holds a doctorate from the University of Tennessee in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.
